Who is this God that we pray to? Why should we pray to Him? If our prayers are to be more than good wishes or pretty words than we have to grow in our understanding of the One to whom all will bow someday.
One of my goals is to create a list of 365 attributes of who this God is. I’ve included 31 of the first ones that I’ve thought of. This isn’t a theological list and the attributes aren’t in a specific order. This is the way that they came to me.
I challenge you to join me in collecting attributes of God this year. Whether you are studying for your small group Bible study or doing personal devotions, take notes on who He is and WHY we seek Him, use these to praise Him as you pray.
1. The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble– Nahum 1:7
2. The judgments of the Lord are true and altogether righteous Psalm 19:9, Titus 1.2; Heb.6.18
3. The Lord made the heavens and the earth Psalm 124:8,Ps 121:2,Ps 146:6, Ex 31:17

5. He is the first and the last and is forever Revelation 1:17-18
6. His law is perfect, it restores the soul Psalm 19:7-8
7. He is slow to anger Nahum 1:3
